Project Information
Scope

Sharing a boundary with a popular local football club and with local deer venturing into the garden and eating young sapling trees in an area being managed for rejuvenation, it was necessary to erect fencing in order to protect the privacy and ecological integrity of the garden.

Summary of Work
  • Plan out fencing along a border of trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order ensuring that the roots of the trees were measured and protected before erecting fencing posts
  • Selectively pruning trees  in order to establish a functional border that maximised the property’s land availability
  • Installing the fence over a maintenance ditch, creating an access gateway to enable ongoing ditch management
Ecological Impact

Prevention of grazing mammals allowing new trees to establish and protecting existing ones, creating better habitat for smaller mammals, insects and a variety of fungi as well as birds and bats.
